The Starmaker Performing Arts Centre opened in September 2000. Dave Savage, its chairman, said: "We wanted to extend the performing arts to as many young people as we can, at a price that we think is reasonable. The centre is ideal for people who have no experience and who want to improve their chance of getting parts in their school production. It will open their eyes to the competitiveness that we all have to live by." But he stressed,"The most important thing is to have a nice time"

The cost of each term is £140 (£70 for "Young Stars"). Classes take place every Sunday afternoon for three hours (1.5 hours for "young stars", covering all aspects of Drama, different types and styles of singing, dance, make-up staging and theatre. The centre will also host workshops by guest speakers.

Savage says "the idea of setting up the centre came as a result of the success of our Easter and Summer school, and us recognising that many people wanted access to performing arts training at a reasonable price".

S.P.A.C.E takes place boys and girls from 8 - 17, and S.P.A.C.E "young stars" takes boys and girls aged 6 & 7.

Time & Location

1pm - 2.30 pm for "Young Stars"

1pm - 4.00 pm for "regular" S.P.A.C.E

at Hugh Faringdon School, Fawley Road, Reading
