Membership of Starmaker Theatre Company is limited to just 90 individuals. This allows us to ensure that each individual has plenty of performance opportunities, and also enables the management committee to ensure that each individual is developed to their full potential.
We always have more youngsters wishing to join the Company than we can accommodate and for this reason we hold auditions for those who are interested in joining.
Company auditions are usually held twice a year, however this is always dependent on the number of places we have available.
Starmaker rehearse at Hugh Faringdon School, Fawley Road, Reading. Company night is Wednesdays from 7.30 - 10.15 when all members attend. Further rehearsals take place Friday 7.30 - 10.00, and Sundays from 10.30 - 1.00 & 1.30 - 4.00. Attendance at these additional rehearsals will depend upon: Your part in the show we are currently rehearsing (i.e Principal or Chorus), and how close to the show we are.
At the auditions we look at three areas of performance:
Dance, Drama & Singing.
We ask that each youngster brings with them a song that they can sing to the audition panel. For the Drama & Dance aspects youngsters will take part in workshops to assess their abilities.
Youngsters do not have to excel in all three areas, as at Starmaker it is not just talent which gains places, personality and commitment are of equal importance to us.

We only audition children aged 10 and above. - Please note that 10 year olds MUST be in their final year of primary school

Please be aware that Starmaker meets in Reading, Berkshire, U.K up to 4 times a week.(evenings and weekends) so if you live outside of the local area, you may find it difficult to join our Company.

Age Restrictions
Please note that to join Starmaker Theatre Company, children must be aged 10 or above, and in school year 6 or above. We have set this barrier, as our Wednesday evening rehearsals do not generally finish until 22.15 and the younger children find this hard to cope with, and as an organisation designed for children,they are always our first priority.
